Hi Kent,

Open up "This PC" and your DVD/CD drive should be present. If you double click it and open it, it's just a blank box, or do you see your photos?

I'm sure we can work through this. Let me know!

Hi Kent, once you get that message that 'Files are waiting to be burned to CD'

Put a CD into the Optical Drive

In File Explorer, double click the blank disk

You are greeted with a dialog that gives you two options for burning your disc

Choose 'With a CD/DVD Player'

Click next and follow the prompts to burn the disc . . .

Insert a blank DVD-R or CD-R disc into your optical drive. A burn disc wizard will appear on screen; give the disc a title, then choose the option Like a USB flash drive. This option is the best choice since it will have better compatibility with older versions of Windows.

Click Next then wait while the disc is prepared for use.

Browse to any files you would like to add to the disc, then click Start > File Explorer > This PC and open the drive containing your DVD-R or CD-R. Then drag and drop any files you want to write to the disc.

When complete, click the Manage tab and then Eject.

This is windows10, as stated in the title. When a disk is inserted into the drive, NO prompts appear. I can hear the disk loading, but no prompt or wizard or whatever.

Hi Dave,  in file explorer I double clicked the blank cd icon, the list of things waiting to be burned or copied is displayed. At the top of the screen I clicked select all, then "copy to/choose location" clicked on the dvdrw drive then I get "source file and destination names are the same". That's as far as i can get. If I click on skip or cancel options, then everything stops. Why are the file names the same?

Hi Kent, you don't need to copy those files at all - they are just shortcuts to the files waiting to be burned - Windows knows this already, that is why you are getting the message 'Files waiting to be burned'

When you double click the blank disk are you not given the option for burning your disc - Choose 'With a CD/DVD Player'

Click next and follow the prompts to burn the disc . . .

Kent, if you double click the CD Drive , then right click in an empty space on the disc, do you get the Burn Option, or is there a burn button at the top of File Explorer?

I double  left click on the cd drive icon, then the list of files waiting to be written appears and the disk icon at the top of the page disappears. No burn options appear anywhere. There are frequent folders at the top of the page of which the cd drive is one. These seven folders go away after the cd icon is double clicked.
