White tends to complement most colours, but in some instances a colour matched castor head can look improve.

In improver to the white coloured heads, Sonicare practice offer black coloured castor heads.

The merely deviation with these black coloured heads is the colour of the plastic used.  At that place are no blueprint or function differences.

The black coloured heads can exist purchased in most of the viii ranges.  However, at the fourth dimension of writing, you cannot go black coloured versions of:

However, the following are even more specialist. Technically, these are non brush heads, they are nozzles.

These are what some might call the heads, for the Sonicare Power Flosser range of h2o flossers.

These are not compatible with a Sonicare toothbrush, only the Power Flossers.

3 different nozzle styles exist, they are:

BrushSync (Smart) brush heads

The newest innovation in electric toothbrush applied science from Sonicare is the introduction of BrushSync.

This is a technology that offers communication between the castor handle and brush head.

The following video explains what you lot need to know, but a written explanation is included below also.

Philips Sonicare BrushSync Explained

BrushSync compatible brush heads communicate with the handle via an RFID chip they have built-in.

The technology comprises of 2 different functions.

  • Brush caput replacement reminder
  • Fashion pairing

The brush caput replacement reminder tells you, via an LED on the brush handle when it is fourth dimension to alter or replace your brush head.

Philips Sonicare brush heads explained, compared and reviewed: which is best? 7

When a brush head is fitted to the brush handle for the first time, the scrap is detected and the alert calorie-free will wink iii times. This acts as confirmation that the handle has detected the head and that the electronics inside the handle will at present keep track of information technology.

Every bit yous apply the brush head, the handle continues to track how often information technology has been used.

Philips Sonicare brush heads explained, compared and reviewed: which is best? 8

The handle knows that the brush caput should exist replaced every 3 months. So, once the handle detects that the brush head has been used for this amount of time, the 'BrushSync' LED on the brush handle volition calorie-free up an Amber/Orange color. It is at this point yous should fit a new head.

But, things get more than intelligent.

If it detects you have brushed iii times a twenty-four hour period every mean solar day or brushed with more pressure, it will activate the BrushSync warning sooner, as the bristles volition accept worn out sooner than the typical 3 month time period.

Information technology volition also delay alerting yous to supercede the Sonicare toothbrush head, if y'all used that caput only once a mean solar day over iii months. It would not tell yous to replace it until it had been used for equivalent to four minutes a solar day for three months.

Philips Sonicare brush heads explained, compared and reviewed: which is best? 9

As the BrushSync mode pairing name kind of implies, the castor automatically selects the appropriate cleaning mode and intensity based on the brush caput attached.

This means that if yous fit the W2 Optimal White head to the handle, information technology will automatically select the White cleaning mode.

If you were to buy and fit the C2 Optimal Plaque Defence brush head to the handle, it would pair with the 'Make clean' mode whilst the G2 Optimal Mucilage Care brush head will pair with the Mucilage Care manner.

The thought of this pairing is to accomplish the best cleaning results possible.

Not all brush handles have both BrushSync features. Most common is the head replacement reminder. If the handle has mode pairing, and so it will probable have the replacement reminder also.

For BrushSync to function, you lot must utilize a BrushSync compatible head, these are:

  • G2 Optimal Gum Care
  • C2 Optimal Plaque Defence
  • W2 Optimal White
  • C3 Premium Plaque Defence
  • G3 Premium Mucilage Care
  • W3 Premium White
  • T1 TongueCare+
  • A3 Premium All-in-I

It is perfectly possible to utilise a not-BrushSync uniform head on a BrushSync enabled handle, simply you will non enjoy the benefits it brings, and the BrushSync heads were more expensive at the time of writing.  This is the aforementioned if you apply one of the BrushSync heads listed on a handle that does not support BrushSync.

Although we take covered everything you demand to know above, we accept also created a separate article explaining BrushSync.

The heads are interchangeable

Do All Sonicare Heads Fit To All Sonicare Handles?

Philips Sonicare heads are interchangeable.

This means that all of the brush heads offered by Sonicare piece of work with near all of the electric toothbrushes.

So, whether you accept a Sonicare DiamondClean or ProtectiveClean model yous can employ whatsoever of the previously mentioned brush heads.

There are a few odd exceptions, notably older Sonicare toothbrush models that accept unlike attachments, screw on rather than click on.

One of the biggest benefits of this blueprint and interchangeable nature is that it allows you to have advantage of the unlike benefits both castor handle and head bring.

If your oral hygiene goal is whiter teeth, you can select a brush handle and advisable brush head that assistance accomplish this goal.

It also accommodates the needs of families where a castor handle may well be shared amongst different users.

Practice exist aware, that whilst the heads are interchangeable, BrushSync compatible brush heads, must be used with a BrushSync enabled handle for the BrushSync features to role.

Third party or aftermarket alternatives can be purchased. It is brash to but apply Philips Sonicare brush heads with the castor handles as performance and wear on the brush using other brush heads cannot be guaranteed.

What cleaning modes do Sonicare brushes have?

Philips Sonicare have created eight different brushing modes for their toothbrushes.

The maximum number any one toothbrush model has is 5 modes.

The majority, have only 1 mode, the standard 'Clean' mode.

The exact number of modes and what modes they are does vary from 1 model to another.

The principal cleaning modes available across the Sonicare range are:

  1. Clean
  2. White/White+
  3. Deep Clean/Deep Clean+
  4. Gum Care/Gum Health
  5. Sensitive
  6. Massage

Philips Sonicare brush heads explained, compared and reviewed: which is best? 24

What do the Sonicare brush head model numbers hateful?

This is a question I cannot provide a definitive answer to.

Each mode of castor head and pack contents has a different model number that Philips Sonicare use internally to differentiate their different products.

All the castor head part numbers outset with HX followed past 4 numbers then there is often a forward slash (/) and two more numbers. For example: HX6074/26

The only consistent figure I know of that you can use to help identify a pack, is the 4th digit afterward the 2 letters.  Using the above instance I mean the 4.

This relates to the number of brush heads included in the pack.  2 if there are 2 castor heads, 4 if 4 heads are included, 6 and 8, you lot become the idea.

So there we take it, that is all I know nearly Sonicare brush heads.  I hope this has helped.  If yous have any questions, let me know in the comments below.

How and when to replace the brush heads

Supercede your brush head every 3 months.

What might appear to be a perfectly acceptable and usable castor caput can be doing more harm than yous may think.

It is vitally important that the brush head on your Sonicare toothbrush is replaced every iii months. This is a general consensus amongst the dentistry profession.

A new brush head should last on average 3 months, just for some users you may need to replace the brush head sooner.

Every bit a head is used, the bristles become worn, they tin fray and become softer and less effective.

Particular beard on the head volition starting time out bluish and volition over a three month flow fade to become white.

The lighter the bristles, the older and more worn the castor head is.

For optimal results, replace your brush head every three months.

If bristles are shorter, frayed or all over the place and so it is time to modify.

For those with BrushSync and Bluetooth enabled brushes, the smartphone application will also show the castor head usage data. It clearly shows for each brush head how many times it has been used and how many uses are left.

This means, even if you lot ever want to cheque in and become a gauge of how much information technology has been used, you tin.
